About 50 of the top and up-and-coming sculptors are joining what has become the country’s biggest and most important sculpture event.

This sixth edition of Alay Sining is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Makati West in partnership with the sculptors with the previous five editions done.

A press briefing for the Alay Sining 6 exhibit was held at the Adam Room on the 3rd Floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel located at Paseo de Roxas cor. Makati Avenue last November 7, 2013, with the Makati Rotary Club of Makati West, through its Committee on Culture headed by National Artist I.P. Santos.

RCMW president Antonio A.L. Lopez siad that “some 2,000 plus children are born with CHD every year and the waiting list for life-saving operations is long – and getting longer. Thanks to the sculptors’ participation in Alay Sining, we have been able through our Gift of Life Program to help save the lives of nearly 300 children so far. This is why we have chosen for our theme ‘Art with a Heart’.”

“But there are thousands more children with CHD who could die if they do not undergo the operation soon. This is why I would like to appeal to all our countrymen to come and buy sculptures in Alay Sining 6. They will not only be able to save so many children’s lives. They will also be able to enhance the beauty of their offices and homes, and see the value of the sculptures increase over the years since Filipino sculptors have shown that they are among the best in the world,” Lopez pointed out.

Some of the gifted sculpture attended the press conference and presented their works.

Guests of honor who will cut the ceremonial ribbon during the opening of Alay Sining 6 are National Artist for Visual Arts Napoleon Abueva, National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario, National Artist for Visual Arts Arturo Luz, Senator Cynthia Villar, Rotary District 3830 District Governor Robert Kuan, Interior Designer Ivy Almario and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Manager Oliver Kreuzer.
